Campaigners win concession over captive mammals
| Conservation group Marine Connection claims to have persuaded the Egyptian government to ban the import of marine mammals as visitor attractions. The move follows a campaign by MC over whales and dolphins held captive in Sharm el Sheikh. |

In a statement on 4 April, the group's director and co-founder, Margaux Dodds, said: 'Following successful negotiations between the Marine Connection and the Egyptian Authorities, we have today received verbal confirmation from CITES in Cairo to say that Egypt will not allow imports of marine mammals in the future.'
