MPs lobbied over Marine Bill
| A boatload of marine conservationists and other members of the public rolled up at Westminster by boat recently to lobby MPs on taking an active part in steering the Government's forthcoming Marine Bill. |
 |
The move was organised by Wildlife and Countryside Link, a marine lobby group made up of WWF-UK, The Wildlife Trusts, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, the Marine Conservation Society, and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
The conservationists want to see effective measures to tackle 'inappropriate development, disturbance, pollution and damaging fishing practices'. They were supported at Westminster by campaigners from more than 200 parliamentary constituencies - nearly a third of the country's total.
