| US environmental organisation REEF, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and Blackbeard's Cruises have joined forces to organise two expeditions to document and collect lionfish from Bahamian waters. The studies will focus on genetics, age and growth, predation and reproduction, and the impact the lionfish has on native reef fish. The first expedition lasts six days, 21-26 April, and costs $785 (about ?400), covering liveaboard accommodation and food, diving and survey materials. The second lasts seven days from 21-27 April and costs $949 (about ?485), and both trips depart from Freeport on Grand Bahama. |
