Dahab launches week-long festival

Running from 14-21 May, the Dahab Festival is aimed at promoting all aspects of the popular Red Sea resort.

"The Buoyancy Challenge will promote the protection of the reefs in the area. In order to go beyond the concept that buoyancy alone is enough to conserve the reefs, there will also be presentations on the behaviours and biology of many species found in the waters around Dahab, as well as clean-up dives.

"There will no doubt be many more dive-related activities ranging from free Nitrox courses to Raft Races in the Lighthouse Bay and the Resort Lagoon, so there will be plenty to do for all levels of experience and age.

"Free-diving try dives will be on offer as well as breathing exercises and yoga to help push you that little bit further. A free-diving competition will be held at the famous Blue Hole snorkel and dive site."

In addition to other watersports, organisers say that the event will feature a variety of land-based activities, including rock-climbing, live music and a bedouin market.
