Muscat is a well-established dive destination, and more than 40 dive sites are accessible from the Al Sawadi Beach Resort, including Bandar Khairan, an area of outstanding beauty, and the Daymaniyat Islands, which have been placed under the protection of UNESCO.
Marine life includes black-tip reef sharks, leopard sharks, various rays and turtles. The area also offers the opportunity for night-dives, and dives on wrecks ranging from small vessels to the Al Munnassir, a 300-tonne vessel which sank in 2003.
