WET n DRY Dry suit survey
POLAR BEARS DISCOVERY (550) THE SUITS

Distributor: Polar Bears Diving Equipment 01566 773654.
First Impressions: A standard no-frills membrane-type suit that looks very durable. I felt that the colour supplied was a little gaudy.
Material and Construction: Nylon trilaminate. Seams stitched and taped with very neat stitching. Double layer of tape at crotch. Choice of seven colours.
Boots: Standard soft Hunter boot. The fixing tape was beginning to pull away.
Zip: Mediumweight without the benefit of any protective cover.
Seals: Neoprene neck seal. Long conical latex wrist seals with quick-change facility a no-cost option. I took one off and replaced it within a minute.
Wrist Seal Contact Length: 4.5cm.
Knee Pads: Double layer of trilaminate.
Valves: Apeks rotating inflator and low-profile auto dump.
Notable other features: Internal braces permanently attached. Spare (parallel) wrist seals.
Ease of Dressing: Simplicity itself. Easy. A dream after one or two of the others.
In The Water: Very comfortable, but unfortunately I got wet through the neoprene neck seal. Any head movement lets in water. It would have been drier with a latex seal.
Approx. Weight: 3.5kg.
Made-to-Measure: Yes.
Tested by: George Buxton.
