The New Zealander broke by 1m his own record from December 2012, also set at his home site of Deans Blue Hole on Long Island in the Bahamas. He had failed in a previous attempt to better it two years later, but this time he achieved the feat, in 4 minutes 13 seconds.

Trubridge also holds the current AIDA (freediving’s governing body) world record of 124m for Free Immersion Apnea. The FIM discipline is also finless but allows pulling up and down on a line, and the record was set earlier this year at Deans Hole.
