The Belgian confectionary manufacturer, best-known for its seashell-shaped chocolates, says its aim in running the contest is to raise awareness about seahorses, their habitats and the threats they face.

The entries will be judged by a panel of Project Seahorse and NELOS (Flemish League for Underwater Research & Sport) professionals chaired by Prof Amanda Vincent, Director of Project Seahorse. They will take into account scientific value, artistic value, seahorse species, creativity and uniqueness of location and habitat.

Grand Prizes for the three best photos and the best video include photographic and diving equipment and, of course, chocolates. There will also be Public Prizes based on the number of likes received by entries on the website gallery, with a shortlist of 20 passed to the jury to select the top 5.

To take part, complete the entry form here and submit up to five of your best photos or one video to seahorses@nelos.be.

Entries can be uploaded for display and judging until 28 October this year, and prizes will be awarded on 17 November in Beringen, Belgium.

Divers can also upload their photos here for a chance to win the book "Seahorses: A Life-Sized Guide".
