Dive training for Maldivians

Thirty-nine people received the training, according to Into Scuba Dive and Recreation Center on Hithigas Magu island, Hulhumale Atoll, which collaborated in the pilot programme on Addu Atoll.

The programme has been developed to “introduce diving and related activities as a viable industry to attract and support the growing mid-level tourism in these regions”.

It should also help to engender a “deeper sense of environmental  responsibility”.

Those trained included men, women and children, ten certifications going to people aged from 10 to 16.

Into Scuba continues the programme this month with a similar operation on Haa Dahlu Atoll, in the north.
