While anyone can apply, divers are regarded by the board as a clear market for the 16 Islands Wedding Invitation, which aims to marry 16 couples “simultaneously next year on 16 May” and on “16 different Islands of The Bahamas.”
The 16 “personally tailored” ceremonies will include, for instance, “marrying on the ocean floor with dolphins in attendance” off Grand Bahama and, on Andros Island, a beachside ceremony followed by a “plunge into a Blue Hole”.
Supplied for each wedding will be “any designer wedding dress from the Tia range by Benjamin Roberts” and “wedding rings up to the value of £500 courtesy of Goldsmiths”.
Each winning couple will receive flights and transfers, seven nights’ accommodation and meals, plus six nights’ accommodation and meals for two guests who can act as witnesses.
Other provisions are a marriage officer, marriage licence and documentation, bouquet for the bride and boutonnière for groom, videographer, wedding cake and wedding toast.
To enter, couples need to “visit www.bahamas16weddings.co.uk and explore all 16 different wedding and island proposals”, says the Bahamas Tourist Office.
“They simply need to upload a short video, or photograph and statement, conveying on which Bahamian island they would like to marry and why.”
Applications need to be received by 23.59 on 30 November.
