Up close with crocodiles

The first episode of Swimming With Crocodiles, screening at 9pm on 19 February, sees Fogle travel to Botswana to join wildlife experts on a pilot science study diving with Nile Crocodiles.

The aim is to learn more about the animals in their natural environment – knowledge which might help save lives. Hundreds of people are killed by crocodiles in Africa every year.

In the second episode, screened at 9pm on 26 February, the team moves on to Australia to study the large, aggressive saltwater crocodile.

One of the key challenges when diving with crocodiles is to get in and out of the water quickly, reducing time spent in the relatively dangerous shallow-water zone where the creatures are most likely to seize prey.
