According to press reports Stephen Martinez, 43, was working in cloudy water at Boynton Beach links course when the alligator grabbed his air cylinder and tried to drag him to the bottom.

Martinez was able to access his diving knife and, after a struggle, the alligator let him go. The diver escaped with a relatively light bite to the arm.
