Reef for Sharm
|
An artificial reef has been established in Naama Bay, at Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt.

Located off the town's Red Sea Diving College, the reef is the result of a collaboration between the college and Ras Mohammed National Park. It is based on a large collection of amphorae pots, known for their effectiveness in attracting coral and other marine life. The reef lies in just 8m of water. Red Sea Diving College and Ras Mohammed National Park plan a second amphorae reef, at 18m. To raise money for the management of Ras Mohammed National Park, Red Sea Diving College is running a scheme called Adopt-a-Pot. Visiting divers can have a pot tagged with their details before it is submerged, in return for a donation.
