Yolanda record claim
|
The first underwater footage of the deep Yolanda wreck in the Red Sea is said to have been captured by divers.

The occasion was British technical diver and instructor Nina Preisner's stated attempt to become the deepest woman wreck diver on open circuit scuba, with a dive to 159m.
Preisner settled on the bow of the wreck, which few divers have seen since Leigh Cunningham and Mark Andrews found it in 2005. She stayed on the wreck for four minutes, allowing her buddy Neil Black time to obtain the footage.
The previous unofficial record dive of this sort was claimed in 2005 by Adina Ochert, who went to 144m.
The freighter Yolanda ran aground on Ras Mohammed's Turtle Reef in 1980, and sank during a storm six years later. |
