The 16m by 16m pool, which opened on Friday, is 1.5m deep, has scuba equipment, wetsuits and a dozen instructors on hand for 30-minute lessons, which includes a 10-minute plunge.
The organiser, Jean-Bernard Bros, is president of the company that runs the Eiffel Tower and also a diver. He hopes that the pool will promote tourism and ocean preservation and introduce the sport of scuba diving in Paris to city-dwellers
Organisers hope to attract up to 3000 visitors before the pool closes on 10 June. |
