David Swain is accused of killing his wife, Shelley Tyre, during a dive off Tortola eight years ago, to obtain financial benefit. Upon arrest he was placed in custody and is due to attend his extradition hearing in early December.
Swain was found responsible for Tyre's death in a civil trial last year. The wrongful-death lawsuit, brought by Tyre's parents and heard by a civil jury in Providence, resulted in an order for Swain to pay the Tyre family $4.8 million in damages. |
