The development represents a new phase for the 11-acre, 18m-deep former quarry at Over Kellet, near Carnforth. It has already benefitted from investment in a dive centre with mixed-gas and cylinder-testing services; clubhouse with restaurant, sun terrace and conference facilities; and varied underwater attractions plus dive-training platforms.
Yorkshire Bank's Financial Solutions, which funded earlier investment, has now agreed to finance the construction of 15 properties around the rim of the quarry, including eight two- and three-bedroomed detached houses.
Care is being taken to ensure that the properties will not impact on leisure activities at the quarry, and the development's architects are to blend the homes into their natural surroundings with, for instance, grass-covered roofs. |
