Wreck-hunter found dead

Wreck-hunter Steve Carmichael-Timson was found dead at his home in Carmarthen on Sunday 2 March.

An ex-Royal Navy man specialising in electronics, Carmichael-Timson was a keen diver and side-scan sonar operator, with a special interest in nautical archaeology.
He was involved in a number of searches for wrecked wartime aircraft in Ireland and the Lake District, and last year dived HMS Myngs in the Red Sea.
Most recently Carmichael-Timson was working with Emperor Divers in the examination of a possible historic wreck site in southern Egypt. He managed a website called www.divetheworld.com.
Carmarthen Police said that there were no suspicious circumstances attached to the death, but that it was being investigated pending a coroner's report. |
