HRH The Prince of Wales has agreed a further three-year term as President of the British Sub-Aqua Club, the club has announced.

Prince Charles became President in 1974, having developed an interest in the sport. His own experiences included training as a diver while in the Royal Navy, and (pictured) joining the team that worked on the Mary Rose in the Solent.
'We are delighted that the Prince of Wales has been able to renew his involvement with BSAC,' said BSAC Chairman Marcus Allen. 'He is the greatly respected face of BSAC, and a highly effective ambassador for diving and snorkelling in the UK.
'His Royal Highness's commitment to both the sport and to marine conservation also reinforces BSAC's key role in the development, safety and enjoyment of diving for all.'
Prince Charles is President also of the Marine Conservation Society, with which BSAC has close ties. Both organisations are, for instance, involved in the Marine Reserves Now campaign for wider marine life protection measures in British waters.
Meanwhile it is reported that Princess Beatrice, the Prince of Wales' niece, recently gained a PADI Open Water Diver qualification at Ban's Diving Resort at Koh Tao in Thailand. |
