The man was reported to have travelled down from London, and to have got into difficulties while diving yesterday afternoon in a group from a chartered boat.
He was reported to have been brought to the surface by some of the other divers. After the Newquay Lifeboat and RNAS Culdrose SAR helicopter arrived, he was transferred to hospital, where he died.
A diver who went missing, presumed dead, off Northumbria last weekend has been named as Stephen Pond, 53, from Mansfield.
