Bangor University PHD student Ana Ruiz is running the study against the backdrop of the recently published draft Marine Bill. 'Little or no information has been collected on the economic importance of diving or its spatial distribution,' she told Divernet. 'Given the Bill, this information is crucial if diving is to be taken into account in management plans.'
Ruiz wishes to establish where divers most commonly go; and how much they spend, and where, when they go on diving trips.
She has already contacted Welsh diving clubs, training centres and shops, but would appreciate hearing from other divers from within or outside Wales who have dived off there recently and think they could contribute.
