Malaysian Borneo's Sabah Government is reported to have given the go-ahead for the complex, which would comprise the oceanarium surrounded by about 200 semi-detached villas and bungalows with sea views.
Some local people, dive operators and conservationists are reported to oppose the plan, saying that it could have a negative impact on Mabul's marine life and even that of the valued reefs of Sipadan, just a 20-minute boat ride away. |
