According to a Maritime and Coastguard Agency report, the dive boat My Clivey put out an emergency call just after midday on 9 October, to say that the male diver had surfaced having missed recompression stops following a 48.7m dive.
Taken back aboard the dive boat 2.5 miles off Whitby, the diver described tingling sensations all over his body, suggesting neurological DCI, as well as joint pains.
The diver was transferred first to Whitby RNLI Lifeboat, before being airlifted a short while later to Hull’s Castle Hill Hospital. |
