Two die at Stoney Cove

Two divers lost their lives at Stoney Cove inland dive site, near Stoney Stanton in Leicestershire, on 24 May.

According to a statement from Stoney Cove, the men had entered the water in a threesome for a pleasure dive, with no instruction involved.
'Soon after the start of the dive one diver came to the surface having got separated from his two buddies,' said Stoney Cove.
'A little while later two other divers raised the alarm that they had found two divers in difficulty on the bottom. 'Rescue divers were immediately arranged and the divers were brought to the surface where they were handed to the Emergency Services paramedics.'
Leicestershire Police has confirmed that two men were taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary, but did not survive.
