Clyde Coastguard was called to assist two male divers, reportedly aged 35 and 45 and from Glasgow, who had been diving in Conger Alley, an area of clear, deep, sheltered water. An RN helicopter was scrambled and Helensburgh Lifeboat launched.
The Coastguard reported that “one of the divers lost his fin on his ascent, the two divers then made a joint ascent and got into trouble and lost control and made a rapid ascent. The casualties were airlifted to the recompression chamber on the Isle of Cumbrae.
