Maltese media has stated that the diver was a 48-year-old Scottish woman, who was diving with her husband in about 16m of water in Gozo’s Dwejra Bay.
According to the report, the pair had been submerged for about half an hour when the woman got into difficulty because all of her air “had been consumed”.
The casualty surfaced unconscious. She was hauled from the sea and tended by an emergency medical team, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
An inquiry has been ordered by the local magistrate. |
