The wreck's licensee, Innes McCartney, has linked up with the Nautical Archaeology Society to run a series of dives on the sub, which lies in about 30m of water. It was the first to be accepted into the service of the Royal Navy, in 1903.
Normally divers are not able to dive the wreck, but from 17-25 August divers with or without archaeological skills will be able to examine it.
Non-archaeological divers can dive with McCartney in the first part of the week, out of Brighton. McCartney will then run a course on submarine research from 20-22 in Portsmouth, for divers who wish to join him and NAS researchers examining the wreck in the later part of the week.
