Intruders entered the rear of the building, in South Brent near Plymouth, after removing security panels. They made off with specialised equipment including five APD Inspiration and Megalodon rebreathers, five Silent Submersion DPVs and a variety of regulators, backplates and wings.
The Inspirations were missing vital components that would render them unusable. Anyone who is offered any of these items for sale under suspicious circumstances is asked to check with Deep Blue Tech owner Richie Stevenson by ringing 07791 152317.
Stevenson says he has been inundated with messages of support from across the diving community. 'People I have never even met before have been offering me spare equipment so that I can carry on with courses, which almost brought me to tears,' he said. South Devon Police is investigating the incident.
