The woman, named as Ann Haurded, 41, from Manchester, was diving with other holidaying British divers on 10 May when she went missing, according to a BBC report, after getting into difficulties as she surfaced.
The alarm was raised at about 1pm and searches, including underwater operations by two diving units from Dundalk, were launched.
Searches were suspended at nightfall and continued the next day. At about 10am, divers from Sheephaven SAC located Haurded not far from where she had been diving. Her body was recovered from a depth of 15m near Paradise Cavern, 400m from the Arranmore shore.
Described as an experienced diver, Haurded had arrived in Ireland with her partner the previous week. Her family have travelled to Donegal and her body is being returned to Britain this week after a post-mortem. |
