Due to a manufacturing defect, the main housing of some of these could become deformed over time, causing the cover and diaphragm to be dislodged.
If this occurs, air flow will be interrupted and the regulator will no longer function, posing a potential drowning hazard.
No incidents or injuries have been reported to date but some 204 units in the UK could be affected. All X650 second stages are clearly marked with a blue capital 'X' next to the number '650' in white. Affected regulators have a visible bump located on the right side of the unit between the letter 'C' and the point at which the mouthpiece attaches to the regulator body.
Scubapro is contacting registered owners directly, but all users are advised to stop using the regulator immediately and contact Scubapro to find out whether theirs is affected. All returned regulators will be replaced free of charge.
