According to US media reports, the 47-year-old female PADI instructor died after jumping into the pool at a dive school in Tyler, East Texas to retrieve a snorkel on the bottom, as her students kitted up ready to enter the water.
The instructor is reported to have dived to the bottom of the 3.6m-deep pool without any scuba gear on but still wearing a weightbelt. When they realised something was wrong, students dragged the unconscious instructor from the pool and gave CPR until medical support arrived.
The instructor was pronounced dead in hospital five hours later. |
