According to a police officer the body of the diver, a Russian, was found not far from the shore at Ras Mohammed, a popular site for divers based in Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh.
It was reported that the diver had been to 100m, exceeding by a large margin local diving depth regulations. However, an accidental descent to that depth, followed perhaps by a fatally fast ascent, cannot be ruled out.
