Waterfront-dwellers in Brisbane on the country's Gold Coast have been treated to sustained sightings of the sharks in groups of threes, fours and fives.
According to a recent airing on BBC2's Today programme, the sightings have become a 'main talking point', with the idea of a cull raised because of the perceived risk to swimmers.
A 21-year-old woman, Sarah Whiley, was mauled to death by bull sharks in shallow water near Brisbane in January 2006.
