The Red Sea Turtle Project is to be steered by a five-strong group of dive centre professionals based in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt. Their aim is to record and map sea turtle populations in the South Sinai, including Ras Mohammed National Park.
Data collection is expected to be possible to establish an effective management scheme to protect the creatures, for instance by placing cages and nets over nesting areas to deter predators. |
