The turtle was tagged with a satellite-transmitter in Jamursba-Medi, in Indonesia, and tracked across the Pacific to Oregon, in the USA.
It covered a massive 12,774 miles, over a period of 647 days - an average of nearly 20 miles per day.
The swim is the longest recorded migration of any of these creatures, and one of the longest of any vertebrate. |
