The survey is being run by Scuba STAR Network, an independent organization dedicated to improving safety for divers, and increasing awareness of procedural and equipment issues.
Participants can fill out an online questionnaire (via the link below) addressing such matters as their weightbelt design details; how often they check the gear; and how easy it is to use both above and under water, including security of attachment and the dumping of individual weights or the belt as a whole.
The survey is the latest in Scuba STAR Network's general pattern of bi-monthly surveys on diving equipment. It is the survey for August and September, with responses asked for during that period.
The organisation has good industry contacts, such that its surveys are read by insiders with influence on equipment design. Its guidance on safety-related issues serves the manufacturers, individual divers, certification agencies and dive centres.
