Recall for SureLock II

The SureLock II is a mechanical weight release system fitted to most Aqua Lung BCs from 2009. The company is concerned that the weight pocket’s rubber handle could pull away.

“If this were to occur during a dive, the weight pocket would be left engaged inside the BC,” says Aqua Lung.

“There are no known occurrences of this happening under water, and there have not been any reported injuries, but Aqua Lung believes that a recall is the safe and prudent thing to do.”

Aqua Lung has revised the handle assembly with an easily recognized thickened band of rubber at the handle’s base.

Divers with SureLock II units are advised to stop using their BCs and take the weight pockets to an authorized Aqua Lung retailer or dive centre.

“They will be able to replace your handles for you while you wait, as changing handles is a quick process,” says Aqua Lung.

“The replacement is made under warranty and you will not incur any charges.”
