Scuba Travel spearheads Deptherapy fund-raiser

The auction of the holiday with Scuba Travel and 11 other diving prizes was conducted by TV presenter and DIVE 2012 speaker Paul Rose at the Balti Night and Disco held by DIVER Group and the BSAC Diving Conference 2012.

More than £3000 was raised for Deptherapy, the charity founded six years ago by Fraser Bathgate to teach young amputee war veterans how to dive. The programme, which began with US war veterans, is now in its second year of working with British servicemen.

Three of the soldiers who have already been to Florida, diving with Deptherapy, were present at DIVE 2012 to explain how diving is helping them to get their lives back on track, both physically and emotionally.

Our thanks go to everyone who took part, especially Scuba Travel and Otter Watersports, who donated a bespoke, made-to-measure drysuit in any style from its range.

Other donations included a BUDDY Commando BC with BUDDY Pocket Reel and AP SMB from AP Valves; a liveaboard trip on a new vessel from Red Sea Divers; a dive-and-stay package in Spain from Euro-Divers; a Cressi Leonardo full-decompression computer; a 10-dive package in the Maldives from Euro-Divers; a 3mm Proteus wetsuit from Fourth Element; a hoody and T-shirt from Weezle Diving Services; a stainless-steel Scubanner from Submerge; and a Travel-Lite divebag and hoody from Beaver Sports.
