Cave repaired

At Cow Springs, Luraville, a theatre artist was taken under water to attend to a section of clay wall and bring it back as closely as possible to its original state.

Michael Angelo Gagliardi, from Chicago, used his skills in theatrical rigging and scenic art to reshape the clay. The work took three days, with Gagliardi operating nearly 215m into the system, under 21m of water and in a two-knot current.

The work was sponsored by America's National Speleogical Society, Cave Diving Section.
