Retro reef for Turkey

To be more accurate, the wreck is a new build constructed specifically for life as an artificial reef - but based on the design of a trader that sank near Bodrum around 600 BC.

The ship was built in Urla, then transported to the Underwater Archaeopark in Mordo an district, near Yeni Liman, where it was sunk in 15m of water, 150m from shore.

It will now serve as an attraction for visiting sport divers, giving an idea of what it would be like to dive on an ancient vessel. It will also become a useful research base as marine life takes hold.
