A British freediver has set a new UK mark of 202m in lengths of a pool swum under water.
In the sport's Dynamic category, in which the diver can use paired fins or a monofin, Alan Barber (pictured) set the record while taking part in the UK's NoTanx Laurie Competition 2009 at London’s Tooting pool.
That's just over eight lengths of your local 25m swimming pool! Indeed, Barber beat the previous UK record by exactly the standard pool's 25m length.
Now, he fancies a tilt at Russian Alexey Molchanov's world record of 250m. If successful, Barber would join Sara Campbell as the only Britons to have set world freediving records.
