Funds for BHF

The impressive sum has been raised in the aftermath of a 24-hour sponsored dive carried out by Trafford SAC, of Flixton, Manchester two weeks ago.

Sixteen divers took to the water at Eccleston Delph, a flooded quarry in Chorley. Eight buddy pairs did six dives each, spending their time on a platform at a depth of 6m.

Inspiration for the event came from Dale Makin, the club's chairman, whose father suffered a heart attack in 2007 but recovered "thanks to the research of the BHF and the wonders of modern technology".
