Epson Red Sea 2009, held in Eilat form 9-14 November, is open to underwater photographers and videographers, amateur and professional.
The prizes include diving holidays, equipment including photo gear - and cash.
A cheque for $10,000 awaits the winner of the Eilat Shoot-out, for the best portfolio of five shots taken off Eilat’s shores during the week of the event. The money comes on top of a three-week diving holiday for two in Papua New Guinea.
The Shoot-out also includes a number of other subject categories.
Included in the Shoot-out will be one underwater photographer from each of a number of nations that have already run national-based Epson Red Sea qualifying rounds.
In the UK, the sub-competition was run in June by the British Society of Underwater Photographers. Its member Robert Bailey won the Epson Red Sea competition title 'UK & Ireland Underwater Photographer of the Year', for a portfolio of previously taken pictures.
Bailey gets an expenses-paid trip to Eilat to participate in the competition.
Supplementing the Shoot-out is a category for previously taken material, which can be submitted online.
Images of the World has a number of subject categories, the section for the best five images getting the top prize of a $4000 home movies projection system plus a week’s diving holiday for two in the Red Sea.
Deadline for web-based entries into Images of the World is 15 October, however, so potential entrants need to get moving!
