Suit maker joins flood effort

Sadly life was lost, but organisations including the RNLI’s Flood Rescue Team, the Coastguard, MoD and Lancashire’s Fire and Rescue services did much to ensure personal safety and limit the effects of rising water levels.

During the operations Northern Diver, based at Appley Bridge in Lancashire, remained open around the clock to “repair, replace or supply dry suits and equipment for emergency and rescue services”, often “repairing and returning dry suits to action within a single day”.

“The sentiment was echoed by many similar businesses and individuals all around the UK, doing whatever they could to support those affected by the floods,” added a company spokesman.

At 2 December the company remained "swamped with suits" after a period in which "so many hit such hard use".

Northern Diver is used to dealing with all manner of scenarios, as it makes suits and other equipment for the emergency and rescue services along with recreational, commercial and military divers.
