Run on Saturday 6 February at the university’s Robbins Conference Centre, the conference features a time-honoured mix of speakers representing archaeologists, salvors and small diving groups working on local projects.
Speakers are:
*Sean Kingsley on the discovery of HMS Victory in the English Channel;
*David Mearns on finding the WW2 light cruiser HMAS Sydney off Western Australia;
*Jim Tyson on Bronze Age finds off Salcombe, Devon;
*Innes McCartney on the WW2 sub HMS Audacious off Donegal in Ireland;
*Dante Bartoli on a 2nd century BC wreck off Capraia, Italy;

The conference also acts as a natural meeting place for divers, explorers, archaeologists, salvors and governmental organisations.
It is run by the International Maritime Archaeology and Shipwreck Society, whose event organisers are all divers with interests in maritime archaeology and history.
Doors open at 9am and close at 6pm. Entrance costs £15, £10 for students. Tickets are available on the door but pre-booking is recommended.
There is a Friday evening meeting over drinks at Plymouth’s Holiday Inn and, on Saturday, another chance to meet at the hotel post-conference, before moving on for dinner at a local restaurant.
On Sunday there is a guided tour of Plymouth Hoe and the port’s historic Barbican.
