BSAC’s Mike Todd dies
14 January 2010
Mike Todd, formerly Chairman of the British Sub-Aqua Club, has died in hospital.
Todd’s chairmanship was for three years, from 1981-83, but his commitment to the club and the diving industry generally spanned five decades.
He was, BSAC Chief Executive Mary Tetley has said, a mentor and advisor much valued for his “straight talking and experience” within the club.
Outside the BSAC, Todd worked in the media as Technical Editor of DIVER magazine from 1978-92, during which time he was responsible for gear-testing.
Later he served as Chairman of the Inspectorate for Diving Equipment Servicing and Testing (IDEST).
In 2007, Todd received an honorary life vice-presidency of the BSAC, at the club’s Diving Officers Conference.
He is survived by his wife Jean, two daughters and grandchildren.
