British diver feared lost
18 January 2010
Hopes are fading for a British diver who went missing on Saturday, 16 January off Safaga, in southern Egypt.
Search vessels are reported to have been combing an area about eight miles south of the port.
The diver, reported to be a 45-year-old man, was holidaying in a diving party of 12 from Britain.
Essam Mahran, heading search operations for the South Sinai Association for Diving and Marine Activities, described the diver as “expert”.
However, the chance of finding him alive was becoming “weak”.
