Sharks campaign offers holiday prize

19 January 2010

A shark conservation group is offering the chance to win a 10-day diving holiday in Indonesia to those who support its Asian campaign.

Shark Rescue wants to build a consensus calling upon a senior official in Hong Kong to introduce measures which would discourage citizens from consuming shark-related products, chiefly shark fin soup.

It is asking the public to buy, online, sets of three postcards which can be posted to the Hon Chief Executive Donald Tsang. The idea is that purchasers fill in one of the cards themselves and give the other two to family or friends to send.

The cards are pre-addressed to Tsang at Hong Kong’s Government House and carry the message: “Please do the right thing and lead Hong Kong towards protecting sharks and the health of our oceans.” Space is left for a message addition.

A set of three cards costs $10, and names of those who order before 1 February go into the hat for the Indonesian holiday prize draw, run that day.

There are, in fact, two 10-day prize holidays to be won, each worth US$5000.

Each holiday winner will be able to take a companion and choose from a range of Indonesian liveaboard cruises, specifying dates and routes. Stops can include, for example, Komodo and Raja Ampat.
