Welsh crawfish history wanted

25 January 2010

Welsh researchers are asking divers to dig into their logbooks and pass on any records they have of crawfish sightings.

The Welsh Crawfish Recording Project is tied in with the nationwide Seasearch crawfish recording programme, aimed at building a picture of population levels around the country (see link below).

But the difference with the Welsh element is that the historic aspect is being asked for as well.

The information is being gathered by Kate Lock, West Wales Seasearch Project Coordinator, on behalf of the Wales Biodiversity Partnership (WBP).

If you can help out, contact Kate at rumbalock@tiscali.co.uk

The WBP promotes measures which protect biodiversity in Wales, with the help of individuals and organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

It is supported by the Countryside Council of Wales, Welsh Assembly Government and the Wildlife Trust Wales.
