Free-dive display comes to London dive show

22 February 2010

Next month's London International Dive Show (LIDS 2010) will host an interactive freediving pool display with top breath-hold trainer Marcus Greatwood's NoTanx crew at 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

Visitors to LIDS, which takes place at ExCeL over the weekend of 27/28 March, will be invited to have a go at winning prizes by guessing the winner in the static breath-hold competitions in the Try-Dive Pool.

And there will be the opportunity of holding your own breath under an expert eye - throughout the day on the NoTanx stand you can take up Marcus's offer of free five-minute freediving lessons, which for scuba-divers can help reduce air consumption and extend your bottom time. The NTStyle technique used focuses on relaxation and enjoyment.

To see what LIDS visitors can expect from the No Tanx display, watch the video here.

The Try-Dive Pool at LIDS will also give a free taste of scuba to any youngsters or new divers who like the idea of having a go.

Meanwhile the Technical Pool is set aside for divers who want to try out rebreathers, DPVs and other advanced kit, and find out whether this style of diving is for them. Rebreather specialist training company MR Diving will have its staff on hand to guide you through using APD closed-circuit rebreathers such as the Evolution and Inspiration in the pool.

Other highlights at LIDS 2010 include a packed speaker programme, Red Sea Zone, British Isles Experience, RNLI Sea Simulator - and the exciting new Visions in the Sea underwater photo show within a show.
